Iman Hammam with moroccan flag

Imaan Hammam said it: “Nothing compares to a Moroccan Hammam.”

Imaan Hammam is a Dutch-born model of Moroccan-Egyptian descent and has emerged as a dedicated force in today’s fashion industry. She is generally referred to as the “North African Hit Girl” as her radiant presence in the world of fashion and beauty is deeply intertwined with her rich heritage. Born to a Moroccan mother and an Egyptian father, she knows how to embody the essence of these two cultures in her work, style and personality.

Indeed, Imaan’s heritage isn’t just a background; it’s a profound source of inspiration that influences her outlook on beauty and self-care. On many occasions, we saw her seamlessly merge codes from Morocco’s and Egypt’s heritage with the contemporary world of fashion and skincare.

When it comes to skincare, Imane fully embraces the radiant beauty of her Moroccan roots. She attributes her glowing complexion to the timeless secrets of Moroccan skincare. Incorporating the wisdom passed down through generations, Imaan draws on the luxurious properties of Argan Oil, often referred to as “liquid gold.” Sourced from the arid landscapes of Morocco, this oil’s natural richness in antioxidants and essential fatty acids nourishes and hydrates her skin, creating a luminous and healthy glow. In her journey, Imaan not only embodies the beauty of her heritage but also shares the allure of Moroccan skincare rituals that have stood the test of time.

In her recent interview with Vogue Arabia, she shares: “The Moroccans are known for our natural products, and using herbs and essential oils, so when I go to Morocco, I like to stock up on a lot of oils like rose and argan oil. These I use in my daily routine, which I learned from my mom. Honestly, argan oil is, for me, it’s like the magic oil and I use it for literally everything. I use it for the whole body, and I use it for my hair when I’m working, and my hair is being straightened all the time. I put some in my scalp and some on my ends, it really just helps damaged hair and kind of restores it. I sometimes even eat it, taking it in the morning because it really is good for your immune system.”

Imaan is also a Hammam addict, as we love! She embraces the secrets of Hammam, the traditional Moroccan bathhouse ritual that’s a celebration of purification and rejuvenation.

“I love going to the hammam! In New York, it’s really hard to find a proper hammam. But I go to, like, a Korean bathhouse in Korea Town and, and they’re pretty good. It’s not the same as like the Moroccan one, but they do the job. I also do it at home with my rose oil and my argan oil. You have to start with the black soap and then steam your body, and then I use the exfoliating gloves to get the dead skin off. It’s like my favourite thing and keeps your skin glowy soft.” (Vogue Arabia, August 2023)
